The following exchange has taken place repeatedly during the past week.
Amanda: I need to go potty, Mommy.
Me: Okay, let's go.
Amanda (after doing everything necessary to get on the potty completely by herself): Can I have a book to read while I wait?
Me: Sure - Here's a book. I'm going to go now; let me know when you're all done.
Amanda: Okay, Mom. Bye!
We have had 5.5 blissful, accident-free, power-struggle-free days. I'm declaring victory. That's not to say there won't be occasional enemy flare-ups, but it's time to bring in the peace-keeping forces and withdraw the combat troops. It's over.
